Local Wireless Connectivity

Bluetooth® is a global standard communications method that enables data to be exchanged wirelessly between electronic devices. The 5913 and 5914 Bluetooth Interface products are designed to provide wireless connection between SCADAPack controllers and PCs. This wireless connection replaces direct serial connections, which are difficult to create in many field installations.

5913 Serial to Bluetooth Adapter

The 5913 connects directly to a SCADAPack controller RJ-45 * serial port using a 24in. RJ45-to-RJ45 cable (included). Five-volt operating power for the 5913 is provided by the serial port on the SCADAPack controller. This requirement prohibits the 5913 from being used with SCADASense transmitters or any other device that does not supply the 5VDC through the serial port. The 5913 is shipped from the factory as a ‘discoverable’ Bluetooth slave device and may be used with any compatible Bluetooth device, such as an internal Bluetooth transceiver on a PC or laptop.

* Connecting to a SCADAPack DE9 (male) serial port requires the use of an RJ45-to-DE9P (female) cable (our part number) 297304 (sold separately).

5914 USB to Bluetooth Transceiver

The 5914 is a Universal Serial Bus (USB) Bluetooth transceiver that adds master Bluetooth connectivity to devices such as desktop personal computers and more commonly, laptop computers, and operates as a Bluetooth master when communicating with the 5913. The 5914 is intended for the PC only; the SCADAPack300 Series USB port does not support the 5914. Operating power is provided through the USB interface. The 5914 is shipped with a CD containing software drivers and configuration software.
