How is TelePACE configured for communication?

In order for TelePACE to communicate with the controller, it must be configured to use one of the PC’s communication ports, either a serial COM port or an Ethernet port. The controller-specific address must also be configured to allow TelePACE to communicate with a specific controller on a multiple-controller network.

TelePACE is configured for communication on the PC Communication Settings dialog. To configure TelePACE for communication:

Select the Communication | PC Communication Settings command. The following dialog is opened:

There are five basic connection types:

No Flow Control: Used for direct-wired, full-duplex, PC-to-controller serial connections. This is the most commonly used connection type and requires a null-modem cable for the connection between the PC COM port and controller COM port.
RTS/CTS Flow Control: Used for direct-wired half-duplex serial connections that require control of the COM port’s RTS and CTS signal lines. This connection is commonly used with some radio modems and Control Microsystems’ 5902 Bell 202 modem.
Dial Up: Used for telephone line serial connections. This connection is commonly used with Control Microsystems’ 5901 Dial-up modem and other third-party dial up modems on telephone lines where a dial tone exists.
SCADAServer: Used with Control Microsystems’ proprietary OPC server, SCADAServer. This connection type allows for multiple OPC clients, including other Control Microsystems applications, to communicate simultaneously through the same PC connection.
Internet: Used with Ethernet-based LAN and WAN infrastructure to communicate at high-speed with Ethernet equipped controllers.

Each connection type is configured on a different area of the PC Communications Settings dialog. See below:

Select the desired connection type radio button and configure all available communication parameter edit boxes as required.
Select the OK button to accept the changes and close the dialog.
